Labor and Liberal have failed at federal and state levels to discover a modicum of compassion.

Kevin Rudd was on twitter today congratulating the aussie girl who won olympic gold in the ski aerials, saying gee we’ll have to set up a new ski facility won’t we.

~

I had the temerity to reply on twitter

” @KevinRuddPM So if I win Gold at the Olympics, you cold fund some community mental health facilities – I’m starting training now Kevin! ”

Taxpayer’s money is used to stage boxing matches (btw I MC martial arts and support boxing ) build footy stadia, freshen up our dullsville foreshore and there’s always lots of taxcash when it comes to self promoting “government” commercials.

For WA’s Barnett/Buswell and the previous Labor wombats to halve compensation for victims of abuse in state care is disgusting.

Meanwhile, mainstream media is so tabloid and dollar driven that these issues are skimmed over or ignored, but gee my colleagues like to have a mass debate over daylight saving or shopping hours – day and night!

Nevertheless I am an eternal optimist ( sometimes a bit jaded ) and have high hopes for activism and advocacy on the net through media like this blog and on twitter.

The state government, meanwhile has announced that victims who are expected to die before christmas will get their meagre share of the halved compo package earlier than the others – really, it’s in the letter

It IS life or death – and for far too many of us.

  1. Thanks Tony, dont worry I share you and your thought with others.. I praise you to the highest.. I understand as far as you go.. Its just you write to people they dont reply.. these people are in charge of our country and all i see is disrespect and rudeness.. When I know I am fighting for children and when confronted about things I know they turn their backs.. how will the children ever be safe when these people are so heartless.. Do they even think it might be for people to even come out and speak at all.. I think not.. This fight kicks my heart almost daily.. I listen on the phone when others are breaking inside and have nobody to talk to.. I argue for my own justice and the justice of many others and the people who brought us out of the woodwork and said they cared really dont.. We confronted media all nice and polite like the other day for just a teeny bit of coverage.. The reply.. we have already done Redress, thats old news.. not old news for us who are still seeking justice, trying to get records and lot are doing it without counseling or psych help as we are to scared to trust incase we may be instatutionalised again.. We get generic replies and answers everywhere we turn.. I thought I had stopped being a number and had become a person.. it seems not.. they are just words that people pull out of a hat to try and win brownie points.. Like Mr Rudds apology.. where are the services we were promised..
I guess I am a person with a soft heart trying to get some compassion from people with cold stones for hearts.. When it gets to a point where your so frustrated, you feel so let down.. all those feeling we shared a long time ago.. we get again.. I guess i get let down by society when its things like shopping thats high on their agenda and not the kids and the services that are STILL failing them.. all the things we went through the next generation will too..
I will stay in touch and I am using my alter ego to let the government know my thoughts still :).. I can still see the good work you do for sooo soo many… You keep up your good work my friend.. the world need heaps more people like you! xx

    1. Do they even think HOW HARD it might be for people to even come out and speak at all.. I think not..

that should have been.. sorry for the mistakes..

  2. p.s maybe 1% on Twitter care.. Ive seen that for myself.. hence deleting my account.. Perth people care more abut shopping..

    1. I totally understand 😦

The media and people generally turn away so quickly from challenging causes like forgotten australians, stolen aussies and mental health.

The issues are too confronting for people hanging off every word about models, sportsmen, daylight saving, shopping hours and the BIG issues.

I work hard every day not to be too cynical, I hope you know that you’re not forgotten by many and that you matter.

You’re welcome to guest post any time or leave comment.

      Stay in touch please

  3. Sadly we will never get justice and we never get respect from the governemnt or the media.. we are just little fish in a BIG ocean.. Perth people care more about extending shopping hours than the abuse of children by those who were supposed to protect them.. One day a person with no family may die and they have no one to leave their children with.. These children will end up in the system and go through the abuse we did.. why because when you tell of cases where children are living in abuse the first reaction from people is to turn their back.. I have a big feeling we are going to be seeing a lot more of this.. http://gawker.com/5474938/joseph-andrew-stacks-suicide-note . Maybe even Forgotten Australians who have nothing to lose or who are fighting terminal illness may make a few powerful statements.. Sad but true…

  4. I beliebe the UK Government have looked after their redress system in a more fair and polite caring manner compared to our Australian government..
