G’day, folks
Listening this morning (Sunday, 12th July, 2009) to Radio National’s Background Briefing “Expanding Mental Illness” http://www.abc.net.au/rn/backgroundbriefing/stories/2009/2619066.htm I was reminded of Vance Packard writing in the 1950’s, in publications such as “The Waste-makers”, and “The Hidden Persuaders”. Reporter Hagar Cohen’s approach to psychiatry was as remorseless as had been Packard’s attack on the American manufacturing industry.
“Background Briefing” is repeated Tuesdays 7 PM in Australia. I will certainly be having a re-listen.
